Hanwha Q-Cells (formery Q-Cells) is evolving from solar cells to solar systems. It produces solar cells made from monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon. It also makes thin-film solar modules (collections of solar cells) used in solar arrays for residential, commercial, and industrial installations. Through partnerships with companies such as LDK Solar and MEMC Electronic Materials, its Hanwha Q-Cells International unit builds, operates, and maintains large-scale solar power plants which are then sold by the partnerships to investors. Hanwha Q-Cells gets most of its sales from Europe. In 2012 Q-cells was acquired by the Hanwha Group, which became the 3rd largest solar cell manufacturer in the world.
